SFDFF On the Road

“SFDFF On The Road” is San Francisco Dance Film Festival’s Touring Program. As part of our ongoing outreach efforts to bring dance to a wider audience, DANCE FILM SF is offering the rental of one of our annual highlight reels of curated shorts from previous years’ festival programming. These rentals are available as streaming, limited-use content and are intended for educational use by libraries and nonprofit cultural institutions or for small or new film festivals (worldwide) that do not currently have the resources to curate their own programming. By special request, we may offer multiple viewings for approved educational institutions that will assign controlled viewings of a package as part of their syllabus coursework. These touring packages are NOT FOR COMMERCIAL SALE.

The rental package fee includes the permission to screen a highlight reel of choice, PLUS a print-ready PDF program for self-printing and distributing to your patrons. We’ll also include promotional film stills. CLICK HERE to request permission for the rental of one of our Touring Packages.

Screendance Workshop

We also offer the option of adding a dynamic filmmaking workshop to your screening event led by filmmaker and SFDFF Technical Director, Ben Estabrook. The goal of this three or six-day workshop is to introduce students to filmmaking techniques that will help to bring out a kinesthetic vibrance in their dance films. This workshop will guide students, through a hands-on approach, to explore different methods of moving the camera in relation to the dance. Both traditional filmmaking practices as well as improvised approaches will be investigated. In addition to the practice of dance filmmaking, the workshop will also touch on the history and theory of screendance.

Click here to view workshop details.

Fees to include a workshop will be negotiated to include all transportation and accommodation for Mr. Estabrook as necessary. Please mention your interest in a workshop when completing the Request Form below.
